Experiencing a new atmosphere at The University of Nottingham

Academic secondment is an important part of the SCENT project. The purpose is to share experiences, knowledge and experiences study in a new atmosphere in different countries. I (Muhammad Imam Sudrajat) as ESR-7 from the University of Twente Netherlands also got the opportunity to do my academic secondment at the University of Nottingham United Kingdom for two weeks (16 May 2022 – 28 May 2022). This is very fun and challenging at the same time.

In the academic field, during this secondment, I and my colleagues at the University of Nottingham conducted research collaborations. We build a simulation which will then be analyzed using statistical methods. Moreover, we also discuss it with Professor David Thomas about this opportunity. Of course, we continue this great collaboration after I back to my University.

Furthermore, not only gaining new knowledge, other interesting things from this academic secondment activity are the opportunity to see beautiful places and learn about British culture. So in between academic activities, I also explored the beautiful city of Nottingham and visited the marvellous castle in Nottingham which is very famous, especially for its Robin Hood stories. At the end of the week, I also had the opportunity to visit the city of London and enjoyed the city of London from the very iconic London Bus.

Not only that, during this secondment, I also had opportunities to build new networking with colleagues from other projects, such as the ETOPIA, ETUT projects and other projects. For me, this academic secondment is a very valuable experience and will be very useful for my future and for sure these benefits are expected from the SCENT project.
